Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Congratulations on your new tattoo! In these instructions you will find what you need in order to properly care for your new body art. Your body has gone through trauma, and everyone heals differently. This means healing time will vary from person to person and so will the results. Patience is key in this case! Some tattoo studios use plastic wrap or gauze bandages for aftercare of tattoos, which increases the risk of infection and fading, but the Infinium Studios artists use medical-grade Saniderm bandages. These bandages are worn for multiple days instead of hours to help protect and preserve your new tattoo. Following this guide will help avoid infection and early fading using saniderm bandages.

● If you have received a Saniderm bandage, leave it in place for 4-7 days following your tattoo procedure. The bandage will help protect the new tattoo from bacteria, injury, and infection. If you notice a pool of fluid building underneath the bandage, don’t panic! This is plasma, ink, and blood that have leaked from the tattoo and will not hurt and is a normal part of the healing process. Do not puncture or try to empty this pool as it will expose your tattoo to bacteria.

● After 4-7 days and under warm water, gently peel the bandage away from your tattoo. After the bandage is removed, carefully rinse the area to remove excess fluid buildup and biomatter.

● Wash your new tattoo with a gentle, unscented antibacterial soap. Do this no fewer than three times a day.

● After washing, pat dry with a clean towel and moisturize the tattoo with a tattoo safe, unscented moisturizer. Do not use a scented lotion, shea butter, or petroleum jelly! Because of the availability and price, we recommend H2Ocean Aquatat for moisturizing your tattoo. You can purchase it at our studio after your procedure. Apply a thin layer onto the tattoo and continue as needed to combat scabbing and dryness.

● For the following two weeks, repeat this washing and moisturizing process as needed. This is where patience comes in. Be watchful and aware of how your tattoo is doing. Do not scratch or pick at the area!

● The healing process should last about a month in total. Again, everyone heals differently and this should be seen more as a guide than a strict schedule. Keep in mind as your artsits, we can only control what happens during the procedure. Once you leave our studio aftercare is your responsibility exclusively. If you have any questions or concerns with how your new tattoo is healing, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information. Thank you for your business!
